今回はシドニーでは有名なタイ料理レストラン チャットタイ (Chat Thai)、そのチャッツウッド店 (Chatswood)に行ってきた様子です。

This time, I went to Chat Thai Chatswood Branch, a famous Thai restaurant in Sydney.
何処にある? Where is it ?

Chatswood Placeまではチャッツウッド駅から徒歩10分程で行くことが出来ます。チャッツウッドモールを抜けそのままビクトリアアベニュー(Victoria Avenue)を歩いていけば着きます。
Chatswood Place is about a 10-minute walk from Chatswood Station. You can go through Chatswood Mall and continue straight along Victoria Avenue to reach it.
チャッツウッドはどんなところ? What is Chatswood like?
今回訪れたチャットタイ(Chat Thai)があるサバーブチャッツウッド（Chatswood）はどんなところなのか?
チャッツウッド(Chatswood)は、シドニー北部にある人気のサバーブで、商業・交通・文化がバランスよく発展している地域です。
What kind of place is Chatswood, the suburb where the Chat Thai I visited this time is located?
Chatswood is a popular suburb in northern Sydney. It is an area where commerce, transportation, and culture have developed in a well-balanced manner.
中国・韓国・日本・東南アジア系の住人が多く、アジア系レストランやスーパーマーケットが豊富です。
Chatswood Chase (現在改装中)や Westfield Chatswood など大型ショッピングセンターが2つあり、銀行、図書館、公園、映画館などもあり、生活に必要な施設は充実しているため、ファミリー層や学生、ビジネスマンに好まれています。
毎週木曜日から土曜日にかけてはチャッツウッド駅前モールでマーケットも行われています。
The area has a large population of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Southeast Asian residents, and many Asian restaurants and supermarkets.
There are two major shopping centres, Chatswood Chase (currently under renovation) and Westfield Chatswood, along with banks, libraries, parks, and cinemas, making all necessary facilities for daily life well-equipped. This makes it popular among families, students, and business people.
A Chatswood market is also held at the mall in front of Chatswood Station from Thursday to Saturday each week.
鉄道・バス・シドニーメトロもあり交通の便が非常に良く、簡単にノースショア方面・シティ方面・ノーザンビーチ方面へ行くことが出来ます。
シドニーで公共交通機関を利用するにはオパールカードが必要です。
There are trains, buses, and the Sydney Metro, making transportation very convenient, and it is easy to go to the North Shore, the city, or the Northern Beaches.
You need an Opal card to use public transportation in Sydney.
タイ料理の特徴 Features of Thai cuisine
タイ料理には次のような特徴があります。

香り豊か Fragrant
レモングラス、バジルなどのハーブが多く使われ、料理一つひとつがとても香り豊かです。
ハーブやスパイスが使われているので食欲をそそり消化促進にも効果があります。
Herbs such as lemongrass and basil are used generously, making each dish very fragrant.
Since herbs and spices are used, it stimulates the appetite and also helps with digestion.

タイは南北に細長い形をしている国で地域によって料理に特徴があります。
Thailand is a country that is long and narrow from north to south, and its cuisine varies by region.
北部（North）：辛さ控えめ、ハーブ多め Mild spiciness, plenty of herbs
東北部（East Norh ） : 唐辛子多め、酸味・塩味強め Extra chili, strong sour and salty flavors
中部（Middle）：味のバランスが取れた王道スタイル A classic style with a well-balanced flavour
南部（South）：ココナッツミルクと唐辛子を多用 Frequent use of coconut milk and chili peppers
入店 Entering the restaurant
今回は予約しないで平日のランチに行きました。
This time, I went to a weekday lunch without making a booking.
カジュアルな感じで入りやすい入口です。
It’s an entrance that feels casual and easy to walk in.
ランチオープンしたばかりに行きましたので一番乗りでした。
I went just after lunch opened, so I was the very first to arrive.

グルテンフリー（Gluten Free),ビーガン（Vegan)、ベジタリアン（Vegetarian)のメニューもあります。
They also have gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian menu options.
デザートメニュー、ドリンクメニューも豊富です。
There is also a wide variety of desserts and drinks.
写真(上）から見て判ると思いますがメニューの厚みがすごいです。料理の数がたくさんありまるで料理本のようです。
As you can see from the photo (above), the menu is incredibly thick. There are so many dishes that it’s like a cooking book.

これだけ料理があると迷ってしまいましたが今回は、
Mussaman curry ($22.00)とBa Mee Bped($22.00)をオーダーしました。
With so many dishes, I was indecisive, but this time, I ordered Mussaman curry ($22.00) and Ba Mee Bped ($22.00).
Mussaman Curry(写真上)ですが、大きめの牛肉が入っていました。この肉がとても柔らかく、そしてルーは絶妙なバランスでスパイスが効いていました。
This is Mussaman Curry (photo above), and it contained large pieces of beef. The meat was very tender, and the curry sauce had a perfect balance of spices.
Ba Mee Bped(写真上)は、モチっとした麺ですが歯切れがよく鴨肉にも味が染み込んでおり心地よい感じでハーブが料理を包んでいました。
Ba Mee Bped (pictured above) has springy noodles that are easy to bite, with the flavour well absorbed into the duck, and herbs enveloping the dish in a pleasant way.

今回訪れたのはチャッツウッド店でしたが、他にもシドニー近辺で計5ヶ所(チャッツウッド店含む）レストラン展開をしております。
Westfield Sydney店、Circular Quay店、The Galeries店、Neutral Bay店、そして、Chatswood店
になります。
This time I visited the Chatswood location, but there are a total of five restaurants around Sydney (including the Chatswood store).

まとめ
タイ料理はシドニーで最も人気のあるアジア料理の一つです。レストラン、テイクアウェイ、フードコートなど、いろんなところで手軽にタイ料理が楽しめます。
またシドニー各国のレストランのなかでもタイ料理ははずれが少ないといわれています。その中でも今回訪れたチャットタイ(Chat Thai)は群を抜いてます。
シドニーで何となくアジア料理が食べたいときや、何を食べようか迷った時は、タイ料理を楽しんでみてはいかがでしょうか。

Among the various international restaurants in Sydney, Thai cuisine is said to be reliably good. Among them, the Chat Thai restaurant we visited this time stands out.
