今回はバランガルーにあるボークストリートベーカリー(Bourke Street Bakery)に行ってきました。

This time, I went to Bourke Street Bakery in Balangaroo.
ボークストリートベーカリーとは? What is a Bourke Street Bakery?
Bourke Street Bakery（ボーク・ストリート・ベーカリー）とは、シドニーを代表する人気ベーカリーの一つで、2004年にサリーヒルズ(Surry Hills)ボークストリート(Bourke Street)で始まったこの小さなベーカリーでしたが現在ではシドニー各地に店舗を展開しています。パンやペストリー、パイ、タルトなどを手作りしているのが特徴です。
もちろん今もサリーヒルズボークストリートにあるお店は営業しております。
ちなみにサリーヒルズ(Surry Hills)店の他に、
Barangaroo、Newtown、Marrickville、Balmain、North Sydney、Alexandria、Parramattaなどがあります。公式サイトでは16店舗を案内しています。
Bourke Street Bakery is one of Sydney’s most popular bakeries. It started as a small bakery on Bourke Street in Surry Hills in 2004, and now it has stores all around Sydney. They’re known for hand-making their bread, pastries, pies, and tarts.
Of course, the original Surry Hills Bourke Street shop is still open.
Besides the Surry Hills store, there are locations in Barangaroo, Newtown, Marrickville, Balmain, North Sydney, Alexandria, Parramatta, and more. The official website lists 16 stores in total.

今回はそのお店のバランガルー店(Balangaroo)に訪れてみました。
This time, I visited that store’s Balangaroo branch.
バランガルーは何処にある? Where is a Balangaroo?
今回訪れたボークストリートベーカリー(Bourke Street Bakery)はバランガルー(Balangaroo)にあります。
そのバランガルー（Barangaroo）は、シドニー中心地( Sydney CBD）の西側、ダーリングハーバーの北側に位置しています。
レストラン、カフェ、バー、オフィス、高級ホテルなどが集まるエリアとして人気のサバーブです。
The Bourke Street Bakery I visited this time is located in Barangaroo.
Barangaroo is on the west side of Sydney CBD, just north of Darling Harbour.
It’s a popular suburb known for its mix of restaurants, cafes, bars, offices, and luxury hotels.
シドニー湾沿いの再開発サバーブとして注目されているサバーブですが今もそれは終わっておらず今後もどんどん開発されていくサバーブです。
It’s a suburb being noticed as a redevelopment area along Sydney Harbour, and that’s still ongoing, so it’s a suburb that will continue to be developed more and more in the future.

アクセス Access
バランガルーまで電車で行くのであればウインヤード駅から徒歩約5分、シドニーメトロであればバランガルー駅で降りれば着きますし、シドニー中心地(Sydney CBD)から徒歩でも約20分ほどで着きます。またサーキュラーキーからフェリーで行くことができます。バランガルーワーフ(Barangaroo Wharf)で降りれば着きます。
その中から今回私はシドニーメトロを利用して行きました。
If you’re going to Barangaroo by train, it’s about a 5-minute walk from Wynyard Station, and if you’re using the Sydney Metro, you can get off at Barangaroo Station. From Sydney’s CBD, it’s also about a 20-minute walk. You can also take a ferry from Circular Quay and get off at Barangaroo Wharf.
This time, I went using the Sydney Metro.
シドニーでバス、電車、フェリー等の公共交通機関を利用するのであればオパールカードが必要です。
If you’re using public transport like buses, trains, or ferries in Sydney, you’ll need an Opal card.
バランガルー観光スポット Balangaroo Sightseeing Spot
ここでちょっとバランガルー（Barangaroo）ならではの観光スポットをご紹介致します。
バランガルーはシドニー中心地から徒歩で行ける海沿いのサバーブです。なので海沿いの散策・景色・アート・グルメをまとめて楽しむことが出来ます。
Here, I’d like to introduce a few sightseeing spots unique to Barangaroo.
Barangaroo is a seaside suburb within walking distance from central Sydney. So you can enjoy a mix of seaside walks, scenery, art, and food all in one place.
バランガルーリザーブBarangaroo Reserve
バランガルー観光の一番のおすすめはココ。海沿いに造られた約6ヘクタールの公園で、シドニー湾とハーバーブリッジを眺めながら散歩できます。75,000本以上の在来植物が植えられており、自然とアボリジナル文化を感じられる場所です。
The number one recommendation for sightseeing in Barangaroo is this place. It’s a park of about 6 hectares built along the coast, where you can take a walk while enjoying views of Sydney Harbour and the Harbour Bridge. With over 75,000 native plants, it’s a spot where you can really feel nature and Aboriginal culture.
マリナウィコーブ Marrinawi Cove
海沿いでのんびりするならここ。バランガルーリザーブ内にあるマリナウィコーブ（Marrinawi Cove）には海水浴エリアがあり2023年にオープンしています。シドニー中心地からとても近いところで海水浴を楽しむことができます。夏なら泳ぐのもいいですが冬は海を眺めながら散歩するだけでも気持ちいいです。
If you want to relax by the sea, this is the place. Marrinawi Cove in the Barangaroo Reserve has a swimming area and opened in 2023. It’s very close to central Sydney, so you can enjoy swimming there. In summer, swimming is great, but in winter, even just taking a walk while looking at the sea feels nice.
パブリックアート Public Art
バランガルーには屋外アートやアボリジナル文化をテーマにした作品が屋外に点在しています。現在も公式サイトで展示・イベントが紹介されています。上の写真はバランガルーに訪れた際、海に浮かべられていたオブジェです。
In Balangaroo, outdoor artworks and pieces themed around Aboriginal culture are scattered around outside. They’re still featured on the official website for exhibitions and events.
海沿いでランチ&ディナー Lunch & Dinner by the Seaside
バランガルーには多くのレストランがありかなり充実しています。ランチ時であればテイクアウェイして屋外で食べれば気持ちが良いですし、夕暮れ時に行けば海とハーバーブリッジを眺めながら日が落ちていく時間の中変わっていく景観を楽しみながら海沿いで食事を楽しめます。
Barangaroo has a lot of restaurants, so it’s pretty well-equipped. If it’s lunchtime, you can get takeaway and eat outside, which feels great, and if you go around sunset time, you can enjoy a meal by the waterfront restaurant while watching the scenery change as the sunsets over the sea and the Harbour Bridge.

になります。私は今回シドニーメトロを使ってお店に行きました。

I went to the bakery using the Sydney Metro this time.
シドニーメトロ駅を出てお店の位置を調べて見たら徒歩10分で到着できるとありました。なので歩いてお店まで行きました。
I got out of Sydney Metro Station and checked the location of the bakery, and I could get there in about a 10-minute by walk.So I walked to the bakery.
シドニーメトロバランガルー駅を出て上の地図の青い点線通りに歩きました。
I left Sydney Metro Barangaroo Station and walked along the street marked with the blue dotted line on the map above.
駅を出るとすぐに入江があり

見つけました。
たしかにシドニーメトロバランガルー駅から徒歩10分程で到着しました。
I found it.
I definitely arrived in about a 10-minute walk from Sydney Metro Barangaroo Station.
こちらが今回のカフェ、ボークストリートベーカリー(Bourke Street Bakery)です。
Here’s this time’s cafe, Bourke Street Bakery.
オシャレな外観です。
お店自体はそれほど大きくなく外に数席テーブル席があるくらいでテイクアウェイ主体のカフェです。
It has a stylish appearance.
The shop itself isn’t that big, and there are just a few tables outside, so it’s mainly a takeaway style barkery.
店内へ Into the shop
さて店内へ行こうとしてお店の近くに行ったのですが列が出来ていました。私もその列に並んでお店に入っていきました。
So I was trying to go inside the shop, and when I got close to it, there was a line. I joined the line and went into the store.
美味しそうなパン達がありました。
There were some delicious-looking breads.

コーヒーをオーダー Orederd a coffee
私はカフェに行くとフラットホワイトを頼みます。なので今回もいつものようにフラットホワイトをオーダーしました。
オーダーは店内で行い先払いになります。
*ちなみにフラットホワイトとは、エスプレッソにきめ細かなフォームミルクを合わせたオーストラリアやニュージーランド発祥と言われているミルク入りコーヒーです。
さてコーヒーを頼んだのですが、どうしても先程のスイーツが頭から離れなかったのでレモンタルトをオーダーしてしまいました。
When I go to a cafe,I usually order a flat white, so this time, I ordered a flat white just like usual.
Orders are placed inside the shop and paid for in advance.
*By the way, a flat white is a milk coffee that originated in Australia or New Zealand, made by combining espresso with finely textured foamed milk.
Anyway, I ordered coffee, but I just couldn’t get the sweets from earlier out of my head, so I ended up ordering a lemon tart.
外席が幸運にも空いていたので座りました。
I was lucky that there were outdoor seats available, so I took one.
こちらがフラットホワイトとレモンタルトです。
さてそのフラットホワイトですが、
濃いめのコーヒーだけど後に残らないのでスッキリする。コーヒーを飲んで口の中が落ち着いた頃濃いめのコーヒーの苦味が広がり香りが鼻に抜ける。
お客様を見ていて気がついたのですが、この辺りで働いている人は多いと言う事。会社員と思われる方が結構多い。ならこのコーヒーはコーヒーブレイクにはちょうど良いと思いました。
そしてこのレモンタルト。
サクサクのタルト生地の中に爽やかな酸味のあるレモンクリームがたっぷり乗っていてリッチな感じを受けました。
コーヒーとの相性はもちろんバッチリ。
Now, about that flat white—
It’s a strong coffee, but it doesn’t leave a lingering aftertaste, so it feels refreshing. When you drink it and your mouth settles, the strong coffee bitterness spreads, and the aroma rises to your nose.
Watching the customers, I noticed that a lot of people working in this area come here. Quite a few seem to be office workers. So I thought this coffee is just right for a coffee break.
And then there’s this lemon tart.
The crisp tart crust is filled with plenty of lemon cream that has a refreshing tartness, giving it a rich feel.
Of course, it goes perfectly with coffee.
周りを見渡してみると When I look around
コーヒーとレモンタルトで嬉しい時間を過ごしていると知らない男性から、「この椅子空いてますか？」と聞かれたので空いている椅子を渡しました。すると横の4人がけ用のテーブルに椅子を並べ5人が座りコーヒーを飲みながらなにか話をし始めました。よくよく周りを見てみると結構な数のお客様がコーヒーを待っていたり数少ない外席が空く度に誰かが座る。そして入口付近は列が出来ている。
私がこのお店に訪れたのが平日の昼過ぎ。ピークは過ぎている時間帯だしオフィスで働いている人達も昼休憩は終わっている時間帯。それでもお客様がひっきりなしに来ている。皆さんどこからやってくるのか分かりませんがお店がすごく繁盛している様子がわかりました。
I was having a nice time with coffee and a lemon tart. Then a man I didn’t know asked me, ‘Is this seat taken?’ so I let him have the empty chair. He then lined up chairs at the four-person table next to me, five of them sat down, and they started talking while drinking their coffee. When I looked around more carefully, I noticed quite a few customers were waiting for their coffee, and whenever one of the few outdoor seats opened up, someone would sit down. And there was a line forming near the entrance.
I visited this shop on a weekday in the early afternoon. It was past the peak hours, and office workers had already finished their lunch break. Even so, customers kept coming one after another. I don’t know where everyone is coming from, but you could tell the shop is really busy.
いつまでも人の流れが途絶えませんでした。
The flow of people never really stopped.

今回は、バランガルーにあるボークストリートベーカリーに行ってきました。
バランガルーへは電車でもメトロでも行くことができこのお店も分かりやすい位置にあるので迷わずたどり着くことができると思います。
メトロ駅からは海沿いの道を通って、ウインヤード駅からは半地下を出てたくさん色んなお店がある通りを通ってこのお店にたどり着くことが出来ます。
ボークストリートベーカリーは位置的にバランガルーでも飲食店が多く集まっている場所にあります。そのためこのお店の周りにも飲食店が多くありにぎやかです。
今度はバランガルーにある別のお店に入ってレポートしてみたいと思います。
バランガルーに訪れた際はこのお店でチョット一息ついてみてはどうでしょうか。
ちなみに、以前シドニー市内で訪れたToby’s Coffee のバランガルー店がありましたし、下の写真はボークストリートベーカリーの向かいにあるフードコートの写真です。人が多すぎてこの1枚しか写真撮れませんでした。

You can get to Barangaroo by train or metro, and the shop is in an easy-to-find location, so I think you’ll be able to reach it without getting lost.
From the metro station, you can take the coastal road, and from Wynyard Station, you can reach this shop by going through a semi-underground street lined with many shops.
Bourke Street Bakery is located in an area where many restaurants are concentrated even in Barangaroo. Because of this, there are many restaurants around this store, making it lively.
When you visit Barangaroo, why not take a break at this shop?
By the way, I could find Toby’s Coffee branch in Barangaroo. And blow photo is of the food court across from the Bourke Street Bakery. There were so many people that I could only take this one photo.
