今回は、クローズネストで人気のカフェ Double Cross Dining Room に行ってきた様子です。

This time, I went to the popular cafe Double Cross Dining Room in Crows Nest.
クローズネスト(Crows Nest)の特徴 Characteristics of Crows Nest
今回訪れたカフェ Double Cross Dining Room はクローズネスト(Crows Nest)にあります。そのクローズネスト（Crows Nest）は、シドニー中心部から約5〜8km北に位置するシドニーノースショアになります。
バス・メトロ・電車など交通アクセスが充実している為シドニー中心地やチャッツウッド、そしてマンリーやタロンガ動物園にもすぐ行くことができます。
ウィロビーロード(Willoughby Road）がメインストリートになりその道沿いに多くのカフェ・レストラン・バーが集まっています。そしてその通りを外れると緑の多い静かな住宅街になっております。
カフェ・レストランなどが多いので夜も賑わいますが思っているより騒がしくならないので生活する上でバランスが取れておりそれもこのサバーブの魅力の1つになります。
また公園やコミュニティ施設もあるので家族にも人気です。
GPもあり大きな病院も隣のサバーブ、”セントレナード (St.Leonard)”にあるので助かります。
シドニー中心地からさほど離れておらず落ち着いた雰囲気の中生活が出来、バス・電車・メトロなどの公共交通機関も充実している為人気の住宅・商業エリアです。
The cafe we visited this time, Double Cross Dining Room, is located in Crows Nest. Crows Nest is part of Sydney’s North Shore, situated about 5–8 km north of central Sydney.
With well-developed transportation options such as buses, metros, and trains, you can easily reach central Sydney, Chatswood, as well as Manly and Taronga Zoo.
Willoughby Road serves as the main street, along which many cafes, restaurants, and bars are gathered. If you step off that street, you will find quiet residential areas with plenty of greenery.
There are many cafes and restaurants, so it is lively at night, but it does not get as noisy as you might think, making it well-balanced for living, which is one of the charms of this suburb.
There are also parks and community facilities, making it popular with families.
There is a GP, and a large hospital is in the neighboring suburb of St. Leonard, which is convenient.
It is not far from the center of Sydney, allowing you to live in a calm atmosphere, and with well-developed public transportation such as buses, trains, and the metro, it is a popular residential and commercial area.
クローズネストは何処にある? Where is Crows Nest?
クローズネスト(Crowsnest)は、シドニー中心部(Sydney CBD)の北部にある人気の住宅・商業エリアです。カフェやレストランが多いですが、落ち着いた雰囲気で知られています。シドニー中心地(Sydney CBD)からは電車、メトロで20分弱で行くことが出来ますし、バスでは30分程で行くことが出来ます。また車であれば約10分ほどで行くことが出来ます。
Crows Nest is a popular residential and commercial area located north of Sydney CBD. It has many cafes and restaurants but is known for its calm atmosphere. It takes just under 20 minutes by train or metro from Sydney CBD, and about 30 minutes by bus. By car, it can be reached in approximately 10 minutes.
今回のカフェ The Café
今回訪れたカフェはDouble Cross Dining Room。
そのカフェの住所は、
Shop 1/31 Albany St Crows Nest NSW 2065
になります。
このカフェがあるAlbany St はクローズネストのメインストリートであるウィロビーロード(Willoughby Road)と交差しているので見つけやすかったですしクローズネストメトロ駅からもセントレナード駅からでも徒歩ですぐに行くことが出来ます。
The café I visited this time is Double Cross Dining Room.

Albany St, where this café is located, intersects with Willoughby Road, the main street of Crows Nest, so it was easy to find, and it is also within walking distance from both Crows Nest Metro Station and St Leonards Station.
*ちなみに私は行きはセントレナード駅から、帰りはメトロクローズネスト駅で帰りました。どちらからも迷わず行けました。
そしてこちらがメトロクローズネスト駅です。出口は、パシフィックハイウェイ(Pacific HWY)とクラークレーン(Clarke Lane)にあり下の写真はクラークレーン(Clarke Lane)側になります。
By the way, I went from St. Leonard Station and returned from Metro Crows Nest Station. I was able to get there without getting lost from either station.
And this is Metro Crows Nest Station. The exits are on Pacific Highway and Clarke Lane, and the photo(below) is taken from the Clarke Lane side.
店内の様子 Inside the café
訪れた日は晴れていました。ですので店内は陽の光が入ってきて明るく落ち着いた雰囲気を出していました。
窓側の席に通してもらいました。
The day I visited was sunny. Therefore, sunlight came into the café, creating a bright and calm atmosphere.
I was seated by the window.
店内は明るい雰囲気。ホールスタッフも皆さん楽しそうに仕事していました。
The interior of the café has a bright atmosphere. All of the staff seemed to be enjoying their work.
メニュー Menu
さてこのカフェのメニューですが、和のテイストがあるメニューでした。
Now, regarding the menu of this café, it was a menu with a Japanese taste.
ドリンクメニューには Coffee & Tea の欄に、
「Hojicha(ほうじ茶)」
がありましたし、Chilled Drink の欄には、
「Iced Hojicha (冷たいほうじ茶)」
「Iced Matcha (冷たい抹茶)」
「Iced Yuzu Matcha (冷たい柚抹茶)」
がありました。
フードメニューの方では、Burger & Sand の欄から、
「Tonkatsu Sand (トンカツサンドイッチ)」
「Prawn Sand (エビカツサンドイッチ)」
があり、Bowl & Donburi 欄からは、
「Ochazuke (お茶漬け)」
がありました。
On the drink menu, under the Coffee & Tea section, there was

このカフェのオーダー方法 How to order
このカフェでのオーダー方法は2通りあります。
まずはホールスタッフを呼んでオーダー。
もうひとつの方法はテーブルにあるQRコードを使ってのオーダー。
ホールスタッフにオーダーをお願いする場合の支払い方法ですが、レジに行き現金もしくはカードで支払います。
QRコードでオーダーする場合はその場でカード支払いになります。
There are two ways to place an order at this café.
First, call the hall staff to place your order.
The other way is to use the QR code on the table to place your order.
Regarding the payment method when asking the hall staff to take your order, you go to the register and pay with cash or card.
When ordering with a QR code, the payment will be made on the spot by card.
*ちなみに今のシドニーではこのQRコードでオーダーする形をとっているレストランが多いのでカードは必要です。
By the way, in Sydney nowadays, many restaurants use QR code method for ordering, so a card is necessary.
とりあえずコーヒーを注文 Order Coffee
フードメニューが気になるところですがとりあえずコーヒーを注文しました。
I’m curious about the food menu, but for now, I ordered a coffee.
綺麗なラテアート。
私はいつもフラットホワイト(Flat White)をオーダーします。
このカフェのフラットホワイトですが、口当たりが良くコクがあるのに重く感じないので飲みやすい。ブレックファーストメニューには大変合うと思いました。

I always order a Flat White.
As for the Flat White at this cafe, it has a good texture and richness, yet it doesn’t feel heavy, so it’s easy to drink. I thought it goes really well with the breakfast menu.
*フラットホワイトとは、オーストラリア発祥のコーヒーでエスプレッソにきめ細かくスチームしたミルクを加えたものになります。
A flat white is a coffee originating from Australia, made by adding finely steamed milk to espresso.
フードをオーダーしてみた Order Food
コーヒーを飲んでいるとさっきのトンカツサンドが気になったのでオーダーしてみようとしたのですが、ホールスタッフに、
「トンカツサンドは午後12時から受け付けています。」
と言われ代わりにどうしようかと考えていたら、
「プラウントースト(Prawn Toast)」
が人気の品と言われたのでそれをオーダーしました。
私はこの日午前11時前にこのカフェに到着していてコーヒーを飲んでいたのですが、無性に「トンカツサンド」が食べたくなり、それでも午後12時まで待てば良かったのでしょうが一旦食べたいと思ったらその想いは止められなくプラウントーストをオーダーしてしまいました。
*確かにメニューにも表示されていました。
While I was drinking coffee, I became interested in the pork cutlet sandwich and tried to order it, but the hall staff said, “The pork cutlet sandwich is available from 12 PM.” As I was thinking about what to do instead, they said,
“Prawn Toast”.
was a popular item, so I ordered that.
I had arrived at this café before 11 a.m. that day and was drinking coffee, but I suddenly had an irresistible craving for a “tonkatsu sandwich.” I probably should have waited until 12 p.m., but once I wanted to eat it, I couldn’t stop the feeling and ended up ordering prawn toast.
*It was certainly displayed on the menu as well.
プラウントースト(Prawn Toast)
私はスタッフに言われるがままこのプラウントースト(Prawn Toast)をオーダーしました。
I ordered this prawn toast just as the staff told me to.
丁寧に焼いたトーストの上にエビが乗っていてディルにイクラが乗っていてクリームソースがかかっていました。
このエビですが写真で見るとまあまあな大きさに見えますが実際は思っているよりも大きくプリプリしていていました。
そしてこのクリームソースが抜群でトーストにもエビにも合っていてシェフの頑張りを感じました。
Shrimp was placed on carefully toasted bread, with dill topped with salmon roe and covered with cream sauce.
The shrimp looks quite decent in size in the photo, but in reality, it was larger and springier than expected.
And this cream sauce was excellent, matching both the toast and the shrimp, making me feel the chef’s effort.
またメニューには親切にグルテンフリーやベジタリアンの表記がされていました。
お客様みんなが楽しむことができます。
The menu also kindly indicated gluten-free and vegetarian options.
Everyone can enjoy it.

*ベジタリアンとビーガンの違いについて。
ベジタリアンは肉や魚を食べない、つまり菜食主義者の事を指しますが、ビーガンは肉、魚、乳製品、卵、はちみつなど全ての動物由来食品を避け、植物性の食事だけをとる人達を指します。
ベジタリアンは食生活に焦点を当て体の健康を大事にする、ビーガンは食事だけでなく生活全般でも動物由来食品を避け心の健康を大事死している印象を受けます。
About the difference between vegetarians and vegans.
Vegetarians do not eat meat or fish, while vegans avoid all animal-derived foods such as meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, and honey, and refer to people who only consume plant-based meals.
食べ終わって After Meal
プラウントーストを食べ終わりコーヒーも飲んで一息着いていたのですがお客様の波が途切れない事に気が付きました。
訪れた日が平日の11時前。食事とコーヒーを終えて一息ついている時間なので午後1時30分は過ぎていました。
1人客、友達5～6人ぐらいのグループ、2人客、小さなお子様を連れた家族客とゾクゾクとお客様がやって来ました。
スクールホリデー期間中に訪れたとはいえ、中高生ぐらいのお客様もチラホラ見受けられソフトドリンクやモクテルを楽しんでいました。
居心地の良さを感じました。
I had finished eating the prune toast and drinking my coffee, taking a moment to relax, but I realized that the flow of customers wasn’t stopping.
The day I visited was a weekday before 11 a.m. Since it was the time to take a breather after finishing a meal and coffee, it was already past 1:30 p.m.
Solo customers, groups of about 5–6 friends, pairs, and families with small children kept coming one after another.
Even though I visited during the school holiday period, I occasionally saw customers who looked like middle and high school students, enjoying soft drinks and mocktails.
I felt a sense of comfort and ease.

今回はクロウズネストにある人気カフェ、「Double Cross」に行ってきました。
このカフェは店内も広いし外席もあります。カフェを利用するお客様のどんな用途にも合うというのは嬉しいもので、それが人気のひとつではないかと思いました。
近所にこういった感じのカフェがあれば通ってしまう、そう思わせてくれる居心地の良いカフェでした。
もちろんテイクアウェイも受け付けています。
またこのカフェに限らずシドニーでは日本食やアジアンテイストをメニューに取り入れたカフェが増えてきているように思えます。
クローズネストに訪れた際はこのカフェで一息ついてみてはどうでしょうか。
This time, I went to a popular cafe in Clown’s Nest called ‘Double Cross.’
This cafe has a spacious interior and also offers outdoor seating. It’s nice that it can accommodate any purpose for customers using the cafe, and I thought that might be one of the reasons for its popularity.
If there were a cafe like this in the neighborhood, I would keep going.
It was a comfortable cafe that made me feel that way.
Of course, they also accept takeout orders.
